Virgilio Sacchini, MD is Attending Surgeon, in the Breast
Service of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York
and Professor of Surgery at the Weill Medical College of
Cornell University in New York. He was vice-director of the
Breast Department at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan
- Italy until September 2000.
Dr. Sacchini received his medical degree from the University of
Milan Medical School and trained in general surgery at the
National Cancer Institute in Milan.
In the last 15 years Dr. Sacchini has being involved as
co-investigator in several clinical trials in breast cancer. He
was Clinical co-ordinator of the Italian Breast Cancer
Chemoprevention Study of Tamoxifen. He is participating as
clinical investigator in some EORTC (European Organisation for
Research and Treatment of Cancer) breast cancer trials. Since
1989 he has been Scientific Consultant to the European School of
Oncology. It is in charge of some clinical trials on breast
cancer at MSKCC.
Dr. Sacchini has published more than 160 research papers and
chapter books.
